SAFE BUS joins public transport sector and security services at Knowledge Event in Lisbon
On 20 September 2022, the SAFE BUS Consortium organised its second Knowledge Event, held in Lisbon. After a first meeting in Rome (May 2022), this event was the second in a series of initiatives to gather the public transport sector and security services to exchange on safety and security in public bus networks.
Alongside the project consortium, the meeting welcomed the Policia de Segurança Publica (the Portuguese National Police Service), Serviço de Informações de Segurança (PT National Security Intelligence Service), city representatives and public transport operators, such as TSL Metropolitano de Lisboa, Metro do Mondego and TCB.
While the project partners shared the first results of the project, the police and special services provided insights into their organisation, sharing perspectives and organisational procedures on security matters and terrorism threats in public transport in the country and specifically in Lisbon.
The meeting provided a great platform for an open discussion between the two sectors, enabling stronger cooperation for stronger counter terrorism measures. Insights from the meeting will serve as valuable input for various of the SAFE BUS project deliverables.
